In Brittany, the road had mountain looks this Friday afternoon. A severe slope, faces marked by effort and a compact audience. It was neither the Alps nor the Pyrenees, but the crowd was still stunned. “The slope is about 2 km, at 7 % average, so I can tell you that for small amateurs like us, we feel it, indeed”comments a spectator, visibly impressed.
For this seventh stage of the Tour de France 2025, from Saint-Malo (Ille-et-Vilaine), the Bretons did not disappoint. On the side of the road, recorded influence record. Some have been waiting for the event for a year. This day also becomes an opportunity, in yellow, for residents of a nursing home, to create smiles, memories: “The atmosphere, it is extraordinary. We spend a wonderful day. We are not about to forget it, that day”rejoices a retiree, who has passed, like the other residents, the yellow jersey for the occasion.
Before Mûr-de-Bretagne (Côtes-d'Armor), the Tour de France had an appointment with another monument: Bernard Hinault, last French winner of the Tour, celebrated in Yffiniac (Côtes-d'Armor), his commune of origin, where the Bretons have the “badger” in and on the skin. “I have an identical 98 % bike. Well, obviously, he is named Bernard Hinault”shows us a resident, who took out the panoply of circumstance, in tribute to his hero. “This is our national champion! It is the best we had in Brittany!”abounds another.
In the meantime, the best today is once again Pogacar. Tadej Pogacar won this Friday evening. The Slovenian has a solid yellow jersey, before the mountain, the real one, next week.
