The Chelsea star Marc Cucurella says that he does not criticize Nico Williams for refusing a transfer to Barcelona after declining an offer earlier in the transfer period.
Williams was about to sign a staggering contract with Barcelona this summer, before refusing the transfer at the last minute and signing a new contract with the Athletic Club. The Spanish international has been strongly criticized by supporters of his current club, but he has since proven his loyalty.
His compatriot Cucurella thinks that Williams was probably afraid of not being able to play for Barcelona if he had signed, which may have influenced his decision to stay. The Chelsea defender reminded supporters of the club's recording problems, the same problem that the Liga champions are currently facing to record Marcus Rashford.

Addressing the Spanish media, Cucurella refuted the argument that Williams has chosen money rather than fulfillment. He said: ” I don't think that is that … I think he was a little afraid of not being recorded. And if then they can't record you, what are you doing? »»
After his failed transfer to Barça, Williams will now focus on the new season with the Athletic Club, alongside his brother and captain Inaki Williams. They will face Barcelona on November 23.
