Escaped or sprinters?
The first part of the stage will be marked by two mythical ascents of the French Alps, the Montgenèvre pass and the Lautaret pass, which should offer a great opportunity to climbers and promote the formation of a solid escape. The second half, more rolling, could, however, allow the sprinters teams to regain control to target a prestigious victory on French soil. But the length of the stage and the wear of the passes could also smile at Putanchers.
The favorites: if a breakaway manages to resist, several climbers will have their say. But in the event of a grouping, resistant sprinters as Jasper Philipsen (Alpecin-DECEUNINCK) OU Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) appear to be the big contenders for victory in Voiron.
