
This Sunday, August 24, the 2nd stage of The return already promises to be a first turn for the general classification. 159.6 kilometers long between Alba and Limone Piemonte, it offers an arrival at altitude which should reveal the first real hierarchies. The route begins with a globally flat section, conducive to escapes, before switching to a much more demanding final. The runners will have to face a final ascent of ten kilometers at 5 % on average, with a listed collar of 7.6 kilometers to 5.4 %, leading to the Ski Station of Limone Piemonte. In total, the stage presents almost 1,900 meters of elevation gain.

The battle for the general could start today. Some climbers, with a nice speed of speed could well draw their game from the game. Giulio Ciccone (Lidl-trek), Juan Ayuso (UAE Team Emirates XRG), Tom Pidcock (Q36.5), Sergio Higuita (XDS Astana) or Jonas Vingegaard (Visma | lease a bike) could win a first victory on this Vuelta.
