This Tuesday was the 16th stage of the Tour of Spain Between Poio and Mos Castro de Herville, and she was once again truncated. A pro-Palestinian demonstration in the final ascent has indeed forced the organizers to move the finish line at the foot of the climb. The Colombian Egan Bernal (Ineos grenadiers) took advantage of this new upheaval to win his third victory of the season in the Sprint, ahead of Spanish Mikel Rural (Sudal Quick-Step). On the favorite side, the shortening of the stage has annihilated any potential attack. Jonas Vingegaard (Team Visma | Lease A Bike) therefore keeps her red jersey, always with her 48 seconds ahead of his rival JOAO ALMEIDA (UAE Team Emirates-XRG).

“It shouldn't happen …”

After the arrival, the Danes spoke of this final truncated by the demonstrations and the shortfall for spectators: “It is regrettable that it is still repeating itself. Everyone has the right to protest, but it is regrettable that it should happen here and in this way, and that we cannot finish the race. It should not happen. The team worked well today, and I would have liked to honor their work in the final of the stage. It is a shame that Spanish cycling fans could not attend an exciting finish”he concludes.
