He is now retired on the road, but Romain Bardet is far from being finished with the bike. After leaving the professional peloton after the Dauphiné Critérium, on June 15, the Frenchman embarked on the discipline of the Gravel (cycling on non -tarred roads). The next day, he took the 10th place in the 2nd stage of the World Cup circuit in Sweden.
Saturday, August 23, for his second race only in the specialty, the 34 -year -old runner won. The native of Brioude (Allier) won the Italian event at the Monsterrato, a 120 km long race also counting for the World Cup circuit. Romain Bardet notably imposed himself in front of the Czech Petr Vakoc, former professional on the road specialist in the discipline and holding the title on the Italian event.
Bardet, who had won 11 success in 13 years on the road, already opens his counter after two races in Gravel. This victory granted him the possibility of participating in the Worlds of the Discipline, scheduled for October 11 and 12 in Limburg, in the Netherlands.
