The former Arsenal striker, Thierry Henry, benefited from important support to take the reins of his former club and succeed Mikel Arteta.

The former Manchester United striker and the French team, Louis Saha, believes that Henry's passion for the game and his football intelligence make him a candidate of choice for the management position at the Emirates Stadium.

Arteta has been at the head of Arsenal since December 2019 and, during his mandate, he brought Constance and structure to a club in difficulty. The Spaniard won a FA Cup in his first season, revealing a promising potential. Since then, Arsenal has established himself as a regular suitor as the first League, but has narrowly failed, finishing second in the championship in each of the last three seasons.

Thierry Henry in Arsenal?

Despite the progress made under Arteta, notably thanks to the development of young players and a clearly defined style of play, part of the supporters remains frustrated by the absence of major trophies. The absence of a cup final since this victory in FA Cup 2020 has led some to wonder if a change of direction would not be the catalyst necessary to finally transform this potential into trophy.

Hero of the most glorious modern era of the club, Henry's contributions as a player are engraved in the legend of Arsenal. Between 1999 and 2007, then briefly in 2012, the French striker played 377 games, scored 228 goals and issued 101 assists. His efforts allowed the Gunners to win two Premier League titles and three FA Cups, while he came close to the Ballon d'Or in 2003, finishing second. It is this legendary status that feeds much of the support for the return of Henry, this time as a coach.

Saha, who played alongside Henry in the French team, passionately defended the coach potential of his former teammate.

Saha vote Henry

Addressing Boylesports, which offers the last ratings of the Premier League, Saha said: “I would like to see Thierry Henry train in the Premier League and I think he deserves it. He loves football so much, and many other coaches have had opportunities when he did not have one.

“Some players retire and get important positions in the Premier League, and I don't always understand. I think Thierry should have an opportunity, and he now has experience. He progressed as a coach and achieved very good results with the French team under the age of 21, even if he has not finally raised the trophy. His know-how is incredible and it would be great to see him train Arsenal one day. »» However, if his charts on the ground is indisputable, Henry's coach course has been much more eventful. He started his coach career at AS Monaco, a club for which he played, but experienced difficulties during his visit to Ligue 1. Later, he moved to North America, taking the reins of Montreal in Major League Soccer.

Henry was also assistant coach of the Belgian national team, then principal coach of the French U21 and Olympic teams. If he did not win a trophy with the teams of young French women, his work was hailed.
