The Théo Hernandez file is definitely closed. After months of negotiations, discussions, and assumptions, the French left side officially leaves AC Milan. His departure could have already intervened last winter when Côme had offered 40 million euros to the Lombard club, but the latter had encountered the player's refusal, under contract until 2026. In recent weeks, everything suggested that Hernandez would return to Atlético de Madrid, eight years after leaving the club.
The XXL requirements of AC Milan finally cooled the Colchoneros, who had nevertheless made them before turning to the Andy Robertson track, less expensive. A boon for Al-Hilal, who took advantage of the opportunity to rush into the breach. The Saudi club was able to respond quickly to the player's salary requests, the arrival of which was therefore formalized today.
What about the 2026 World Cup?
In al-Hilal, Théo Hernandez will receive a salary of more than 20 million euros, while AC Milan will recover more than 30 million euros in the operation. But inevitably, this transfer raises questions about the international future of the 27 -year -old player, caped 38 times. Less in success in recent months, Hernandez had seen the Lucas threat worthy hovering over his head, the defender of Aston Villa having responded during the last rallies.
One year before the World Cup, this exile is therefore not necessarily a showcase for the former player of Real Madrid. Even if N'Golo Kanté could be recalled last summer at the Euro by playing in Al-Ittihad, the story of Didier Deschamps en Blues confirmed and reconfirmed that the European Cup was his justice of the peace (only Gignac had been called by Deschamps without playing in Europe, before Kanté). The next gatherings, scheduled for September, October, and November, should therefore help us better know what turn will take the story of Théo Hernandez in selection.
