By raising his arms for the second time on the Champs-Elysées, the Belgian signed the 10th victory of his career over the Great Loop on Sunday. Tadej Pogacar won his fourth Tour de France.
He will remember it for a very long time. The Belgian Wout Van Aert signed a monumental victory on the Champs-Elysées in Paris after having released the Tadej Pogacar yellow jersey from his wheel in the last climb of the Butte Montmartre, Sunday July 27. This is the second time in his career, after a sprint dominated in 2021, that he offered himself the 21st and last stage of the big loop on the “most beautiful avenue du monde”.
In a pouring rain, “Pogi” did not play small arms by contenting himself with bringing back his leader's tunic to validate his fourth coronation on arrival. He tried everything to afford a fifth success on this edition. Despite his fourth place on the line, he joined Christopher Froome in the charts, to a coronation of the illustrious recordmen of the event: Jacques Anquetil, Bernard Hinault, Miguel Indurain and Eddy Merckx.
