Belgian champion Tim Wellens had a magnificent solo success in Carcassonne on Sunday.

Among the UAE Team Emirates XRG, it's not just the boss Tadej Pogacar. His lieutenant Tim Wellens signed his first victory on the Tour de France after a solo number over 43 kilometers, Sunday July 20, on the road to Carcassonne. The Belgian champion thus becomes the 113rd runner in history to count at least a success on the three big towers (two on the Vuelta, two on the Giro before that).

Like a Warren Barguil (Team Picnic-Postnl), the French have not been outdone since the departure of Muret, since Julian Alaphilippe (Tudor Pro Cycling) took third place, behind another Belgian Victor Campenets (Visma-Lease A Bike). Axel LAURANCE (Ineos Grenadiers), Jordan Jegat (Totalenergies) and Valentin Madouas (Groupama-FDJ) are also invited in the Top 10.

Earlier in the day, the double tricolor world champion had nevertheless been caught in a fall, which also delayed Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease A Bike) and Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull-Bora-Hansgrohe). But all of them were able to leave and the head of the general classification was not impacted. Tadej Pogacar keeps his yellow jersey with 4'13 “in advance on the Danish and 7'53” on the German white jersey. And this, before the Grandes ManœOpens expected Tuesday, the day after the rest in Montpellier, on the terrible slopes of Mont Ventoux.
