OL thinks it has found a promising track in Liverpool to strengthen its environment without exploding its budget. A discreet, but very followed profile.

Recruiting clever is one of the watchwords of Olympique Lyonnais this summer.
With limited resources but an intact ambition,
The club seeks to build a competitive workforce without squandering its finances. For this, the recruitment cells multiply the tracks abroad, and in particular in the Premier League, where certain poorly exposed profiles can offer great opportunities.

The latest target is called Tyler Morton, a defensive midfielder from Liverpool, according to information from journalist Paul Joyce (The Times). At 22, English has never really pierced among the Reds despite promising beginnings in the Champions League three years ago. Between loans to Hull City and Blackburn, then a white season in 2024-2025, Morton struggled to win. However, he recently shone with the English U21 at the Euro, attracting attention again.

A strategic track for the midfield of Lyon

Morton is under contract until 2026, but Liverpool does not seem to want to bet on him. Its price, estimated around 7 million euros, could be revised downwards due to its low playing time. For OL, it represents the ideal profile: young, formed in a large club, technical, and accessible. And above all, he perfectly enters the Lyonnaise policy of recovery of under-exposed talents.

Several clubs like Braga, Bruges and West Ham inquired at the start of the transfer window, but none made a convincing offer. OL could therefore take the opportunity to take action, especially since the sentry post remains a priority project for Pierre Sage.

An opportunity not to let go

The idea is clear: to offer Morton an environment conducive to its development and the consequent playing time. In the Europa League in particular, he could quickly win. For OL, which seeks to compensate for major departures without exploding its budget, this reasonable bet could well become a winning blow.
