The male online race of the French cycling championships scheduled for Sunday, June 29 will be shortened from a circuit lap, going from a route of 231 to 214.5 kilometers in total, due to the very strong heat expected to herbaria (Vendée), the organizers announced on Saturday. According to forecasts, the temperature should go up to 36 degrees, with a wind only 10 km/h.
The “Strong heat protocol” Commission “ decided a “Reduction of a turn” of the race which was to see the approximately 170 runners planned at the start traveling 14 times a 16.5 km loop. “Due to the planned climatic conditions, the organization and the arbitral college” decided to reduce the number of passages to 13, especially on the final bump of Mont des Alouettes (4.7% over 1.9 km).
