After a 2024-2025 exercise which once again devoted PSG after a royal season, Ligue 1 will resume its rights during the weekend of August 16-17. Always 18 teams, and a calendar that was formalized this Friday by the Professional Football League. With a first surprise with the presence of Olympique Lyonnais, however officially demoted in Ligue 2 by the DNCG. The LFP obviously provides that OL will manage to maintain its place in the elite.
We thus find a Lens-OL on the first day, a match necessarily intense for Pierre Sage, inducted coach of the RC Lens. With above all a first shock between Stade Rennais and OM, an East derby between Metz and Strasbourg, and the trip of PSG to Nantes (if the match is not postponed). Paris FC will take its first steps in Angers. Monaco will receive Le Havre, while Nice will welcome Toulouse. The schedules of these meetings have not yet been defined but the first day will be held over 3 days, on August 15, 16 and 17.
Second time of the revelation of the calendar, the dates of the classic between PSG and OM. We will start on September 21 with an OM-PSG for the first leg. The return will be played on February 8, 2026 at the Parc des Princes.
The third flagship moment of the season, at least in the course that the LFP, the North Derby, between LOSC and RC Lens. The first leg will be held in Lens on September 21 (the same day as OM-PSG therefore) and the return will take place in Lille on April 5, 2006.
But if the LFP plays the suspense card, some clubs unveil the flagship dates of the season. This is the case of the OGC Nice, which has just published on its social networks the dates of the two meetings against AS Monaco. Monaco-Nice will be played on October 5, Nice-Monaco on February 8, 2026. Another derby is invited this season in Ligue 1, thanks to the promotion of Paris FC. PSG will welcome its close neighbor (the two stadiums are separated by a street) on January 4, 2026, on the occasion of the last day of the first leg. The M atch return will take place on May 16, 2026.
Another classic of the French championship, the Nantes-Rennes of the first leg is scheduled for September 21, decidedly a L1 weekend which will be tasty with an OM-PSG and a Lens-Lille already on the program. The return will be played in Rennes on April 26, 2026. On the other side of France, there will be the return of the East derby, thanks to the promotion of FC Metz. It will be for the 1st day, as said above. Strasbourg will host its neighbor on January 18, 2026.
Finally, the LFP communicated on the programming of the last day, in multiplex. The one who seals the fate of several teams, between maintenance, relegation, title or qualification in the European Cup. Particularity of the last day for OM and OL, they will face the same opponent as during the first day, respectively Rennes and Lens. And we will therefore find the Parisian derby for this last day.
