Madrid can wake up with a smile on Monday. While the meeting had started badly for the band of Xabi Alonso because of this early expulsion of Raul Asencio, which could suggest a disaster scenario, the Merengues assured and won their first match in this tournament (3-1). They can however thank Thibaut Courtois, still imperial on his line, while the new heads Dean Huijsen and Gonzalo Garcia continued to make a strong impression. For others, it was more complicated.
Vinicius Jr still had trouble standing in the face of the Mexican team, even if it is true that the context of the match and its rather axial replacement did not help. But at least, he set foot on the lawn of the Bank of Arena Stadium, which is not the case for his compatriot Rodrygo Goes. His absence from the eleven holder had already surprised more than one before the start of the game, and behind, he did not even come into play, not playing the slightest minute, while players like Víctor Muñoz entered.
Departure in sight?
An absence which clearly questions the Madrid press, especially after the many rumors concerning a departure which have been released in recent weeks and this very pronounced interest of Arsenal for its services. This weekend, the English press also insisted on the Gunners' desire to recruit the player trained in Santos. “Either he is injured and we don't know it … Or it smells like Roussi”for example, launched the journalist Dani Garrido on the Chain ser. His colleague Antonio Romero, however, denied the existence of a possible physical seed: “I don't think so because he was warm up with replacements with a good rhythm”.
Suffice to say that conspiracy theories are going well, especially since Xabi Alonso did not speak about the Brazilian striker at a press conference in order to put things in clear. Has it been preserved for an imminent transfer? Is there a problem between the new Real Madrid coach and his player? The latest information published in Madrid, however, mentioned a more than cordial relationship between the two men. So many questions that tap merengues fans, and to which we should quickly have answers …
