With its 4,550 meters of positive drop, the 19th stage of the Tour de France between Albertville and La Plagne, scheduled for Friday July 24, promised some pretty bumps for the peloton. But it is another, unexpected difficulty which stands on the road to runners. “The discovery within a herd specifically located in the seizure pass, a contagious nodular dermatosis home touching the cattle, must lead to the slaughter of animals, let thes organizers, in the evening of Thursday July 24. Faced with the disarray of the breeders concerned and in order to preserve the serenity of the race, it was decided, in agreement with the authorities, to modify the journey of the 19th stage Albertville-La Plagne and not to cross the Col des Entries “.
“Given this modification, which will notably obscure the Col des Entries, the course route will be 95 km instead of the 129.9 km planned. Consequently, the fictitious departure will be given at 2:30 p.m. or one hour after the schedule initially planned “continues ASO. This 19th stage is also the last in the mountains, before arrival in the Champs-Elysées on Sunday.
