A rise in diet for a first summit. The day after the first French victory over this edition, for this 7th stage, between Bourg-en-Bresse and Chambéry, the runners will travel a first part of the race on flat land, before meeting three difficulties, located in the last third of the race, Friday, August 1. At the end of the 159.7 km of racing, the Plush, and the fastest climbers should impose themselves provided that the descent is well negotiated according to the ascent of a 2nd category collar.
What profile?
A two -profile course. The peloton will travel the first 100 kilometers – in the Ain then Isère – on a flat course, where escapes should be initiated, especially for the intermediate sprint, located in Groslée -Saint -Benoit, 73 km from the departure. This will be the second part of the stage which will be more intense, with the rise of three difficulties -the Côte de Saint -Franc (3.8 km at 6.9%), that of Berland (1.2 km at 7.2%) and the Col du Granier (8.9 km at 5.4%) -.
This last difficulty, in 2nd category, should allow favorites to detach themselves and thus take the lead of the race, which will end by 18 km of descent to Chambéry, which will host for the first time a stage arrival from the Tour de France female.
What favorites?
The outcome is uncertain. The Plchants have an ideal terrain in this rugged step, but the climbers want to take advantage of this ascent of the Col du Granier to take out their faces of the game in the last difficulty of the day. The Dutch Puck Pieterse (Fenix -Deceuninck) will be monitored, like the Belgian Justine Ghekiere (AG Insurance – Sudal), polka dot jersey in 2024 but teammate of the yellow jersey kim the court or the Australian Sarah Gigante, best climbers on the last Giro. Can Maeva Squiban re-edit a leading performance?
In this day, the big favorites half vollering and Katarzyna Niewiadoma, two last winners of the event, have the opportunity to mark their territory by making differences. But they will have to be wary of the duo Pauline Ferrand-Prévôt-Marianne Vos (Visma-lease A Bike), enterprising and at the forefront since the start of the Tour.
