“It was not really the plan …”
“It is a real fairy tale, a dream come true. If I had been told, before the Tour de France, that I would be here with the yellow jersey after having already won a stage, I would never have believed it”begins the 24 -year -old runner. “It was not really the plan. We were surprised that Uae Team Emirates lets spin such a big breakaway, and we took advantage of it by placing four runners at the front. I owe a huge thank you to my teammates Neilson Powless, Alex Baudin and Harry Sweeny, because without them, this yellow jersey would have been impossible to win. That I took risks by digging so long, but … how often does a such opportunity arise?
The expectation of four minutes to find out if I was in yellow or not was very stressful. If Tadej had accelerated until the top of the last ascent, I would probably wear another jersey today. I am extremely proud to represent Ireland. This success is still making its way in my head, it's very moving. From now on, I will focus on the general classification, out of respect for the yellow jersey, and try to keep it as long as possible “concludes Ben Healy at the microphone of the organization.
