Originally suspended for an altercation during a final, striker Luis Suarez saw his sentence increased by the North American League.

Inter Miami striker had been involved in a fight and spit on a member of the staff of Seattle Sounders (0-3)
at the end of the League Cup final.

The Uruguayan had apologized in a statement. But that was not enough to soften the disciplinary committee of the North American competition, which suspended it six games.

Initially, the sanction only concerned the League Cup. But Major League Soccer (MLS) decided to also condemn its behavior as part of the championship.

The North American League added three additional suspension games to Suárez. The next three meetings of the band will be missing at Lionel Messi against the Charlotte FC, the Seattle Sounders and the DC United, on September 14, 17 and 21.
