The group stage of the Club World Cup continued this night for the old mastiffs. Victorious, Serhou Guirassy and Benjamin Pavard qualified for the round of 16.
A storm in France, the night was also agitated on the American continent with three meetings which concerned former residents of the LOSC. The first to get out of the wood were none other than Serhou Guirassy (Borussia Dortmund) and Lebo Mothiba (Mamelodi Sundowns), both present in group F with Fluminense (Brazil) and Ulsan HD (South Korea).
Contrasting destinies
Borussia Dortmund, in competition for a qualification for the knockout stages with Fluminense and the Mamelodi Sundowns, opposed Ulsan this Wednesday. Scorer against these, Serhou Guirassy was still in trouble, struggling to find his pace at the Club World Cup. He went out in the course of part (78 ′) without having really weighed, which did not prevent his German stable from leading the debates. His men pocketed a sluggish victory (1-0, Svensson 36 ′), despite 60% possession, 28 shots (3), 11 of which are framed (3) and double successful passes.
In parallel, the Mamelodi Sundowns of Lebo Mothiba played their future in the competition during a duel with the Fluminense by Thiago Silva. They pushed, pushed, but without the former Lille, absent from the match sheet, they could not make the difference. The resulting result, a zero and virgin score (0-0), condemns them with only four small points garnered.
Inter Milan found
Always knocked out by the slap received in the final of the Champions League (5-0), Inter Milan slowly started its competition with a draw (1-1) disappointing against Monterrey de Sergio Ramos. Benjamin Pavard & Co have now taken over. The Frenchman unfortunately did not participate in the last two outings of the Nerazzurri, hit in the ankle. This did not prevent them from bouncing with victories garnered on Urawa (2-1) then against River Plate (2-0) on the night of Wednesday to Thursday. They are thus qualified, first of their group, for the knockout stages of the competition.
