The administrative descent of OL in the second division caused a wave of sadness, to which Pierre Sage, ex-coach of the Gones, reacted with a palpable emotion.
The announcement of the demotion of Olympique Lyonnais in Ligue 2 by the DNCG has deeply saddened a good number of observers. If the Rhone club intends to appeal this decision in the coming days in order to preserve its place in Ligue 1, several figures linked to the Gones have already expressed their reaction.
Among them, Pierre Sage, former coach of the Lyonnais and now at the head of the RC Lens, spoke about the delicate situation of his former club. Visibly affected, the Franc-Comtois technician spoke during a press conference on Monday.
“I feel like they'll do it”
“Before answering personally, I will first answer as a football. See clubs like Olympique Lyonnais or the Girondins de Bordeaux jostled, it saddens me enormously, because these are clubs that rocked our youth, we followed their European routes and in the French championship. (…) It's annoying to see monuments like that jostled. This is also why we must salute the very good management here in relation to this aspect and which allows to be serene enough for the transition to the DNCG of the coming season ”he explained.
Sage then recalled his strong attachment to OL, which was a turning point in his career: “Now I'm going to answer you personally. You can imagine that I am even more saddened, because it is the club that gave me a chance and allowed me to be here. »»
The 46 -year -old tactician nevertheless retains an ounce of optimism for the seven -time French champion. “I wish him to get out of this situation, but I have the impression that they will do it because they are making arrangements for the investment made to buy the club is not in vain”, he concluded.
