Signed at gold prices, he never played a minute with Real. And the club is finally preparing to turn the page.

He had arrived with a fanfare, presented as the new jewel of Brazilian football. Five years later, he could leave Real Madrid in total anonymity. Recruited for 30 million euros, this young attacking midfielder will never have played the slightest minute with the first team. A unique case in the recent history of the Merengue club, which now seems determined to end this embarrassing chapter.

A 30 million bet that remained a dead letter

Reinier Jesus is his name. A bet tempted in January 2020, when he shone under the colors of Flamengo at only 18 years old. Real hoped to hold a future star, in line with the Vinicius or Rodrygo. But the Brazilian has never been able to impose himself. Loaned in turn to Borussia Dortmund, to Girona, Frosinone then Granada, he left only a few traces. And in Madrid, no one still believes in a sudden awakening.

The situation is now clear: without a role defined in the workforce, without a prospect of resale, and without place in the project of Xabi Alonso, Real is considering a breach of contract. The player is still linked to the club until 2026, but an amicable termination is being studied to allow him to bounce elsewhere. No concrete offer has been formulated so far, a sign of a growing disinterest around the player.

Real Madrid ready to turn the page

The timing of this decision is not trivial. Real is experiencing a renewal phase, with departures of former executives and a free space for young people with high potential. In this context, keeping a player out of plans for five seasons has no sense, sportingly or economically. Reinier in fact the price.

A free departure could be the best outcome for all parties. For Madrid, the opportunity to end a noise without noise. For the player, perhaps finally the real start of a career that has never really started for the moment.
