Liverpool experienced euphoria and frustration on the last day of the summer transfer window on September 1.

While the Premier League market was like that of La Liga and the other major European championships, Arne Slot finally found her number one target: Alexander Isak arrived in Anfield.

The Swedish international spent most of the summer on strike after informing Newcastle United from his desire to join the Premier League champion.

Weeks of transfer negotiations led to a last aged 24 hour session, the Reds concluding a record contract of 125 million pounds sterling.

This is the second time that Slot broke the first league transfers record this summer, after having already recruited Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.

However, everything was not up to the slot on the last day, Crystal Palace having blocked his transfer from Captain Marc Guehi.

The English international agreed to join the club, after the president of the club, Steve Parish, refused to let him go as a free agent next summer, before coach Oliver Glasner intervened.

Glasner would have threatened to leave Selhurst Park if a replacement was not found before the transfer window closed, after West Ham United beat them for the signing of Igor Julio.

Guehi would be irritated by the club's refusal to let him go and resist any attempt to extend in southern London.

A transfer to Liverpool now seems to be postponed to 2026, but according to the Daily Telegraph, Real Madrid would consider an offer in January.

The contractual rules provide that the Merengues could make their transfer in early 2026, but Liverpool will have to wait for the summer to formalize his candidacy.

Real Madrid also follows Ibrahima Konate-whose contract with Anfield expires in June 2026-but the Spanish giants are ready to compete with Liverpool on Guehi during their last transfer facial after the Trent Alexander-Arnold debacle in June.
