A tailor-made time trial for climbers. The still engaged runners will travel, in turn, 10.9 km of racing at the departure of LOUDENVIELLE during the second individual chrono of the edition, Friday July 18. The route will leave almost no meter of the dish, climbing the climb of Peyragudes until the arrival at the top of the terrible ramp of the Altiport. The opportunity seems beautiful for Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates XRG) to definitively fold the Tour de France, the day after its solo victory in Hautacam.

What is the profile?

After three first kilometers in the valley to get the foot of the climb of Peyragudes, the runners will suffer in this first category pass (8 km at 7.9%). If the slope is rather regular, the last ramp promises to be tough with percentages rising up to 16% at the Altiport. It is also the first time since 2016 that the Tour organizers have decided to take a time trial on a dry climb.

What favorites?

Will Tadej Pogacar will offer himself a fourth bouquet in 13 days of racing and definitively ouster Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease a Bike) of the fight for the final victory, while he is now 3'31 “in advance on him in the general classification? After his solo success on the rise of Hautacam on Thursday, the Slovenian world champion seems stronger. Peyragudes, in 2022, and will be keen to win again in this Hautes-Pyrénées station.

For his part, Remco Evenepoel (Sudal Quick-Step), winner of the time trial during stage 5, will also want to impose himself but he will have to be strong during the ascent if he wants to exceed the two favorites, after having shown signs of weakness on Thursday. Other peloton climbers, such as Primoz Roglic (Red Bull – Bora – Hansgrohe), his teammate Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull – Bora – Hansgrohe) or Félix Gall (Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale) will play the role of outsiders. On the French side, the specialist in Chrono Bruno Armirail (Decathlon Ag2r La Mondiale) seems in good shape, but may have dropped too many forces the day before in the breakaway.
