The rumors around a possible acquisition of Olympique de Marseille continue to agitate social networks, but Frank McCourt once again calm speculation.

In an interview with Sunday newspaperthe American owner of the Marseille club wanted to clarify his position, saying immediately that OM was not on the market.

An excluded sale, but possible partners

“The club is not for sale and it is not necessary to give way to any ambiguity on this,” said McCourt, adding that the family group he leads has nothing to do with an investment fund or a state. The Boston businessman also insists on his attachment to Marseille and recalls that he has injected around 640 million euros in the club since his arrival.

Nevertheless, the owner does not completely close the door when new partners arrive. He explains that he could consider this option if this responded to a precise strategic logic, and only if the potential investors share “the same values”. A way for McCourt to place a clear framework, without excluding any future evolution.
