Faced with the press, OM coach Roberto de Zerbi took the floor about the new composition of his workforce.
Olympique de Marseille was very active this summer, finalizing in particular the arrival of Benjamin Pavard in the last hours of the transfer window. At a press conference this Thursday, on the eve of FC Lorient's reception at the Vélodrome, coach Roberto de Zerbi returned to the summer transfer window produced by the vice-champion of France.
“These are very strong players, I am happy with the workforce we have composed. (…) The month of August in Marseille, we had what can happen in four or five years in another club. We have a lot of new players, we have to start again. When you have 12 recruits, you have to start again, you have little time but you have strong and functional players. They are suitable for playing OM. We have to do in a few days what we should do in two months but it does not scare me ”explained the Marseille coach.
De Zerbi relies on progression
The Italian technician also posted great optimism about the progression of his team over the season. The sky and white will have a loaded calendar, between Ligue 1, the Coupe de France, the Champions League. And, of course, a shock against Paris Saint-Germain in next winter, as part of the Champions Trophy.
“(…) I know that playing in Marseille is not the same as elsewhere. I chose all the players with Medhi Benatia, I have a huge self -confidence. I expect us to progress in the game and I am convinced that we can do it with them ”the conclusion of Zerbi.
