The Champions Trophy 2025/26, traditionally disputed in summer, is plunged into total uncertainty. In question: the calendar in charge of Paris Saint-Germain, French champion and winner of the French Cup, engaged in the Club World Cup from June 15 to July 13. This context makes it impossible to meet before the start of the season as explained The team in its edition of the day.
Initially planned to oppose PSG to the winner of the French Cup – or, in the event of a double, to the Dauphin of PSG in Ligue 1, namely Olympique de Marseille – the match will not take place in winter. The date of December 23 was put forward by the LFP, but it does not consensus. The players' union (UNFP), in particular, opposes it, invoking the overload of the calendar at the end of the year.
What if PSG – OM turned into a Final Four?
The uncertainties do not stop on the date: the place of the match is still not determined. Cities like Kinshasa or Abidjan had been envisaged for the previous edition, finally disputed in Doha in January 2025.
In addition, the very format of the Champions Trophy could be changed: a “Final Four” with two additional clubs is being studied, which would mark a break with the traditional confrontation between League 1 champion and the winner of the French Cup.
For the time being, neither PSG nor OM therefore know when, where, or in what form they will compete for this first trophy of the season.
To summarize
The Champions 2025 champions trophy, opposing PSG to OM, remains uncertain: no match this summer due to the PSG calendar, a contested winter date (December 23), unknown place and possible change of format with an oven final. Nothing is yet officially fixed by the LFP.
