Thunderbolt: OL officially demoted in Ligue 2!
It is now official: Olympique Lyonnais is relegated administratively to Ligue 2.. The DNCG, after hearing of the club on Tuesday, confirmed the provisional sanction inflicted last November, for lack of sufficient economic guarantees.
Despite a correct sports season (6th in Ligue 1, a quarter -final of the Europa League), the club's financial situation remains worrying. The owner John Textor, who wanted to be confident, takes a huge slap. A call is expected.
The blow for OL
“As part of the examination of the situation of clubs for the 2025-2026 sports season, the Professional Club Control Commission made the following decisions in application of article 11 of the DNCG Regulation: OL: Deformation in the Ligue 2 championship”!
A confirmed demotion which could upset the entire Lyon transfer window… and the landscape of Ligue 1.
