Ambitious for the coming season, the northern club will break its piggy bank to bring three new recruits this summer.
Qualified for the next edition of the Champions League, Newcastle intends to strengthen its workforce to target high from the 2025-2026 season. According to The Telegraphthe Magpies are ready to invest massively and prepare a triple blow for 146 million euros. The three targets identified by Eddie Howe's staff are João Pedro (Brighton), Anthony Elaga (Nottingham Forest) and James Trafford (Burnley), three players who say they are interested in the idea of joining the ambitious project of St James' Park.
But the negotiations promise to be complex. Newcastle would have offered € 58 million for João Pedro, also courted by Arsenal and Chelsea, but Brighton expects more. Same scenario for Elanga, for which Nottingham Forest claims around € 70 million, a price deemed too high. As for goalkeeper James Trafford, the Toons have offered € 30 million, when Burnley wants at least 35. Despite everything, Newcastle remains confident: the wage requirements of players are compatible with club offers, and Eddie Howe hopes to be able to count on two recruits as soon as the resumption scheduled for July 7.
🚨 James Trafford has fully agreed personal terms with Newcastle United.
Talks between the clubs are progressing but no agreement on the fee yet.
