Guest of Stage 2, the young 19-year-old climber looked back on his first professional season and his projections for the future.
He goes through the stages at high speed. Passing directly from the Junior category to the professionals without going through the Espoirs, Paul Seixas had a great year for his discovery of the big world in 2025. Guest of Stage 2, Sunday October 12, the 19-year-old climber looked back on this season where he impressed, with a victory at the Tour de l'Avenir in August and a podium at the European Championships in September, also becoming the youngest rider in history to enter the Top 10 of the Critérium du Dauphiné in June.
“Compared to the Juniors, it goes much faster, and the headset plays a major role in the racing scenarios. I said that what I wanted to remember at the end of the season is to have learned a lot, that's the case and maybe even more. The end of the season confirms it, I still gained momentum. It's just crazy to be able to finish like that in style”, reacted the Frenchman from the Decathlon AG2R-La Mondiale team, who entered the Top 10 from his first Monument, Saturday, on the Tour of Lombardy.
Propelled as leader for his final race of the season, the Lyonnais was the entire race fighting with the best, behind the alien Tadej Pogacar. “Of course it’s not necessarily easy because since the start of the season, I had the label of someone who was young and there to learn. When you arrive as a leader, you have to manage the pressure but in the end it went very well”he congratulated himself.
Sure of his ambition, Paul Seixas repeated his ultimate objective on set. “My dream would be to win the Tour de France. We will take stock and think with the team about what we can do next year”concluded the French hope, who should discover a Grand Tour in 2026. It remains to be seen which one.
