The news took everyone short: a big formalized blow in Monaco, but not necessarily the one we expected.
After surprising Europe by attracting Paul Pogba then Eric Dier, AS Monaco continues to be talked about. In recent days, the atmosphere on the rock has suggested the announcement of a new flashy name, as the Monegasque transfer window is getting carried away. But this Thursday, it is another form of drama that the princely club formalized, by extending a player already under contract, whose beginnings nevertheless had the effect of an electric shock.
Monaco locks the future
AS Monaco announced the extension of Mika Biereth until June 2030. Arrived last January from Sturm Graz, the Danish striker quickly won the French elite by his formidable efficiency. In just 16 Ligue 1 games, he scored 13 goals and delivered 2 assists, becoming the first player recruited during a winter transfer window to reach such a total over half a season since the start of the century. Its express adaptation enabled Monaco to secure European qualification for the second consecutive year.
With his three triplets against Auxerre, Nantes and Reims, Mika Biereth made an impression. It has even become the fastest in the history of Ligue 1 to reach the 10 goals' mark, in just seven appearances. He also scored a decisive goal during the derby against Nice, a little more consolidating his status as a revelation of the spring. His influence was such that he joined the top 10 in the scorer ranking.
An international trajectory already launched
This rise in power did not escape Denmark coach, who summoned him for the League of Nations in March. The 1.87m center-forward even scored its first international goal in June against Lithuania. A linear progression which now makes him a central element of the Monegasque project, both sporting and symbolic.
By extending it until 2030, Monaco ensures the continuity of an attacker who embodies his development policy. This decision also reflects an assumed strategy: that of betting on stability and certainties, rather than a succession of summer Paris. With Biereth, the club projects, serenely, to the future.
