Barcelona is preparing to make Marcus Rashford his third summer recruit, after having concluded an agreement with Manchester United.
The English international will join the club as part of a loan of a season, with a final purchase option at the end of the 2025-26 season.
Rashford would have clearly indicated that he only wanted to join Barcelona, and the liga champions, having given up Luis Diaz because of the price requested by Liverpool, quickly concluded an agreement with Man United.
Rashford will soon go to Catalonia to take medical exams, and he should be confirmed in time to join the Hansi Flick team for the pre-season tour in Japan and South Korea, which will start next week.
Financial sacrifice for Rashford
Barcelona will still have to record Rashford upon arrival, which will not be easy since he will also have to do the same for Joan Garcia, who joined the club from the Espanyol in early July. But his efforts in this sense were facilitated.
As David Ornstein reported, Barcelona will pay 100 % of Rashford's salary for the duration of his loan, which was decisive for Manchester United to give the green light. But the club accepted this condition only because the 27 -year -old decided to reduce his salary by 30 %, according to Sport.
Rashford will receive 10 million euros during his loan in Barcelona
In total, Rashford earned 18 million euros per season at Manchester United, but according to Ben Jacobs, Barcelona will take care of around 10 million euros on his arrival, the Premier League club paying none of his wages. This sacrifice will allow the Catalans to register it more easily in Liga, even if efforts still have to be made in this regard for this to come true.
Barcelona will now start the sales process of players to make sure that Garcia and Rashford will be able to play on the first day of the 2025-26 Liga season, which will start in less than four weeks.
