The Croatian international, a real Real Madrid legend with 597 games played under the Madrilene colors, is about to discover the Serie has for the first time in his career. Accustomed to carrying the legendary number 10 since the departure of James Rodríguez in 2017, Modrić will however have to change his tunic in Milan: this issue is currently occupied by Rafael Leão, executive of the cloakroom, arrived in 2019. Before settling with the 10 back, Modrić wore the number 19, especially during his beginnings in Madrid. This issue is now free in Milan after Théo Hernandez's departure. However, this is not this choice that the 2018 Golden Ball should make. It should rather recover an equally symbolic number for him: the 14th.
Between 2008 and 2012, it was with the 14th that Modrić shone in the Premier League under the colors of the Spurs, then attracting the eye of Real Madrid. This return to one of its first favorite issues is therefore meaningful for the 39 -year -old midfielder. He will join a young cloakroom, with the ambition to make AC Milan find his past greatness. His experience, calm and leadership will be precious assets for the Lombard club. Free of any contract, Modrić should benefit from a reception worthy of his immense career.
