Even if José Mourinho would no doubt prefer to keep his post, the former Real Madrid coach will have many reasons to rejoice after his dismissal by Fenerbahçe last week.

His departure from the Turkish club marked a new turning point for Portuguese genius.

The 62 -year -old man was noted from his duties after Fenerbahçe's failure against Benfica in the Champions League dams, relegating them to a place in the Europa League. The Turkish newspaper Diario AS reports that in addition to not benefiting from the advantages linked to a place in the Champions League, Fenerbahçe will have to pay 15 million euros in departure compensation for Mourinho, while his contract was expired next summer.

Mourinho crosses the mark of 100 million euros in departure compensation

Not to mention his significant salary, Mourinho has taken an important step. The Spanish daily indicates that it has now received a total of 108.1 million euros in departure compensation. Fenerbahçe is the latest club to dismiss Mourinho, after AS Roma, Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea, who did it twice. His departure from Real Madrid was described as mutual termination.

The biggest amount came from United, who spent 22 million euros during his separation from Mourinho. Chelsea, however, represents the highest amount of these 108.1 million euros, their two layoffs totaling 30.5 million euros.

What future for José Mourinho?

Mourinho had only been dismissed from Chelsea until 2007, upon his arrival at Bernabéu. Since his departure from Real Madrid, he has never left the club of his own free will, although this is the standard for most coaches. Mourinho was the surprise candidate for a return to Bernabéu in 2023, when Carlo Ancelotti's post was threatened.

Some still hold Mourinho in high esteem, but at 62, he hinted that he would one day like to train the Portuguese national team. Always an idol in his country, Roberto Martinez will undoubtedly feel the cold of his shadow if the 2026 World Cup turns badly.
