The president of Naples, Aurelio de Laurentiis, reveals behind the scenes of the departure of the Georgian international for PSG, this winter.
Last January, Khvicha Kvaratskhelia left SSC Naples to join Paris Saint-Germain against a check for 70 million euros. Barely arrived in the capital, the Georgian winger quickly shone, contributing to the historic quadruple in Parisians (Ligue 1, French Cup, Champions Trophy and Champions League). But his departure from Italy left a bitter taste.

“I had to sell KVaratskhelia because his agent threatened to invoke article 17 (a device allowing a player to unilaterally break his contract against compensation)”said the Neapolitan leader.
An extension of KVaratskhelia in Naples was indeed envisaged, however the intentions of his representative were all other, according to Laurentiis: “After the first and great season of the Georgian, we immediately focused on the renewal of his contract, improving his salary with a very important offer, because it was obvious that too low was going to attract half of the world capable of making him a golden bridge. (…) But his agent, Mamuka Judeli, had other plans for himself and the player, regrets Laurentiis.
