After a brief passage in Argentina, the international Costaorian Keylor Navas takes the direction of North America.

Keylor Navas heads for Mexico. Arrived free last January with the Newell's Old Boys (D1 Argentina) after the end of his adventure at Paris Saint-Germain, the 38-year-old Costaorian goalkeeper takes a new turn in his career again.

He joined the ranks of the Universidad Nacional Club (Mexican D1), better known as Pumas Unam. The Argentinian club has formalized the end of adventure of the former Madrid in a press release with very clear accents.

A badly perceived departure

“This decision was taken according to the conviction of supporting a collective project where commitment, professionalism and respect for the values of the club are non-negotiable pillars, can be read. We firmly believe that to achieve our sporting and human goals, it is essential that each member is working in the same direction, always giving priority to the group rather than to the individual. Our path is clear: unit, effort and belonging. The agreement will represent for the Atlético Newell's Old Boys club a financial compensation worth $ 1.9M (around € 1.63 million), plus $ 100,000 (around € 85,500) in variables from Pumas “can we read in the Newell's Declaration.

According to the local press, Navas would have asked not to be aligned just before the championship meeting against Banfield (1-2), disputed this Sunday. A gesture that would translate his desire to project himself fully towards his new destination – a choice which, internally, would have been little appreciated.
