It's official for Nico Williams

Following an unexpected development in the Nico Williams affair, a club from Bayern Munich offered an offer significantly higher than that of FC Barcelona. However, the young striker of the Athletic Bilbao, Nico Williams, has already made his decision known.

For the past few weeks, the name of the young Spaniard Nico Williams has been frequently mentioned in the conversations of various interested clubs, including FC Barcelona, which has already obtained its agreement, and where the file has progressed well. Consequently, the interest of the Catalan club to recruit the Colombian striker Luis Díaz was dismissed in order to focus on the file of the Spanish winger. Indeed, after having noticed the good understanding between Nico and Lamine Yamal in selection, Barça expressed his wish to recruit the young Nico, while several other clubs seek to complicate things for the Catalan club, taking advantage of his delicate financial situation. This is the case of Bayern Munich, which tried to appropriate this signature at the last minute with an offer much higher than that of FC Barcelona, by offering nearly 12 million euros net per season to the winger.

Nico favors Barça and says “no” in Bayern

The objective is clear for Nico Williams, he wants to join Barça and waits for his contractual situation to be definitively settled to validate the payment of his release clause. Nico would therefore have declined Bayern's offer. This is confirmed, he plans to join FC Barcelona. The possible return of the club to rule 1: 1 would facilitate the recording of the player. Faced with this polite response, Bayern must reassess its transfer window strategy. After the failure with Florian Wirtz, the Bavarian club turned to Nico before being forced to explore other options like Luis Díaz, Marcus Rashford or Rafael Leão, all already linked to Barça. For the moment, the Williams track remains open, but if Barcelona succeeds in finalizing the transfer quickly, the Germans will have to abandon this possibility.
