Present in Montpellier before the departure of the 16th stage of the Tour de France, Alexis Lebrun entrusted RMC Sport with news about his fractured hand at the end of March. If he goes better and ends his healing, Félix's big brother will have to undergo a new operation in order to remove a plate in his hand.

On the sidelines of the departure of the 16th stage of the Tour de France between Montpellier and Mont Ventoux, Alexis Lebrun gave news on Tuesday, July 22 of his hand injured during the French table tennis championships. Beaten in the final by his little brother Félix, the elder of the Lebrun had then type the table in an access of anger and frustration at the end of March.

After playing with a plate in recent weeks, the 21 -year -old cluster should quickly take it off. Returning earlier from his holidays for a medical examination, Alexis Lebrun healed well and wearing this metal plate no longer has to be.

“There I was on vacation, so it's okay. There it’s going to be the resumption of training, I’m going to be re on and suddenly it’s okay. A little tired but it’s going to go,” said Alexis Lebrun with RMC Sport. Before confirming the good news for his convalescence: “My hand, I'm going to have the plate removed so normally it is a small operation and then suddenly it will leave for training and hoping that it comes back as much as possible.”

Alexis Lebrun will have to have an operation

In the coming days, the bronze medalist in the team's team at the Paris 2024 2024 will miss about a month of competition in order to be able to make a complete training block without its plate. Even if, as long as the surgical intervention to remove the plate has not passed, Alexis Lebrun does not yet know exactly what his schedule will be.

“I don't know yet so that's why I don't really know if I talk or not, because I don't have much to say,” chained Félix's older brother. “I know that there I just passed the scanner and therefore I can have an operation, but we have to be called with the surgeon.”

And Alexis Lebrun to clarify that he is no longer in pain: “There is nothing more. But, precisely, as is fine, it is better to remove the plaque. It is also in order to be able to be in good shape on the European championships and during the WTT Champions in Montpellier (which will be followed exclusively on the channels Twitch et YouTube RMC Sport, from October 28 to November 2), being able to have a hand without a plate inside is always better. “

“I hope it will come back fairly quickly”

But while waiting for these next competition deadlines, the next goal of the 11th world in single is therefore to have an operation as soon as possible in order to come back quickly.

“Especially since it is a small operation, so I hope it will come back fairly quickly,” said Alexis Lebrun. “(…) We will resume training quietly, get back in shape, and then there will be a big physical preparation and a big discount in training. And then we will be in good shape for competitions.”

Before concluding with a little indiscretion on his brother Félix: “He did not have to scan, so he stayed a little more in Puerto Rico. There, he took advantage with the Diaz family, Daniel Gonzalez, all that. They welcomed us, it was nice, so he, he still benefits.”
