Will the International Football Association Board (IFAB) revolutionize the rule of the penalty? The Times announces that the body which dictates the rules of football could look at three law proposals, two of which concern video assistance (VAR). First of all, the Var could be authorized to intervene to cancel an unjustified corner. Then, the video could also have his word to say to invalidate a second yellow card. But the most awaited modification would concern the penalties.

Clearly, if a player draws and misses his attempt, he and his teammates would no longer have the right to follow the action to try to mark. Clearly, the action would be completed in the event of a failed penalty. Be careful however, these laws are still far from validated. They must first be offered at the IFAB meeting in November. They will then have to be approved at IFAB's meeting in March 2026. Any modification of the law would then come into force on June 1, in time for the 2026 World Cup organized in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
