Liverpool defender Ibrahima Konaté would have rejected a lucrative offer from the Saudi professional league, reaffirming his intention to continue his career in European football.
The 26 -year -old central defender remains determined to play at the highest level, which, according to him, is only possible by staying in Europe, because he wishes to participate regularly in the UEFA Champions League.
According to the Daily Mirror, a large Saudi club would have contacted informally with the representatives of Konaté in order to feel the ground for a possible offer this summer. However, the former defender of the RB Leipzig clearly indicated that his priority was to stay in Europe, which left the Pro League club other choice than to turn to other options.
Real patient in the Konaté file
Konaté is currently starting the last 12 months of his contract in Anfield. If Liverpool wishes to prolong his contract, negotiations are at a standstill. Real Madrid is particularly interested, having identified French as a future reinforcement for its defense. Although the Madrid club prefers to ensure the signing of Konaté as a free agent in 2026, it could act earlier if the opportunity arises.

Ibrahima Konate panics the market
Although no official offer has yet been submitted, Real Madrid could test Liverpool's determination during the current transfer window. However, there is a notable difference between the price requested by Liverpool and the evaluation of Real Madrid. The Reds would require 50 million euros for an immediate sale, while the Spanish champions are only ready to pay around 20 to 25 million euros
Liverpool is now faced with a crucial decision: taking advantage of Konaté this summer or risking losing a key asset without obtaining anything in exchange in a year. For Real Madrid, patience could be paid if it is ready to wait.
