The German team worries, and its former star does not hesitate to admit their doubts about the future of the European selection.
Germany seems far from its best days. Eliminated in the semi-finals of the League of Nations by Portugal (1-2) last June, the Mannschaft has not yet qualified for the 2026 World Cup.
Third in group A after two games, the team led by Julian Nagelsmann was not reassuring. The quadruple world champions fell against Slovakia (0-2) last week, before winning a successful success against Northern Ireland (3-1) last Sunday.
“We are not in a good position”
For the former glory of German football Toni Kroos, the level displayed by the selection considerably reduces its chances of winning a new star. “We are not one of the teams that can feed the biggest ambitions currently. Because others are simply better. (…) It is true that we are still far from talking about the title in the World Cup ”he said in the podcast Just loops.
However, the 2014 world champion remains confident about the qualification of Germany for the next competition.
“But the tournament will take place next summer. For the moment, we are far from it and we are really not in good position. We are very lucky to be placed in a group (qualification) where it is impossible to be eliminated ”added the former Real Madrid field.
