Frenchman Benoît Cosnefroy joins Tadej Pogacar at UAE Team Emirates-XRG

The recruitment was made official by the Emirati team on Saturday.

Another Frenchman to support Tadej Pogacar. UAE Team Emirates-XRG, the team of the four-time winner of the Tour de France, announced on Saturday October 25, the recruitment of Benoît Cosnefroy for the next two seasons. After spending his entire career in the AG2R team which became Decathlon, the Norman puncher arrived, at the age of 30, in the most powerful formation in the peloton in which another Frenchman, Pavel Sivakov, was already playing.

“I am very happy to join the best team in the world. When Mauro Gianetti (the general manager of the team) explained the project to me, I knew it was the challenge I needed at this stage of my career. I can't wait to start this new chapter.”declared the Frenchman in the press release announcing his arrival.

Winner of the Grand Prix du Québec in 2022 and the Grand Prix de Plouay in 2021, Cosnefroy comes, in the eyes of UAE, “strengthen our already formidable squad on hilly one-day races” with his “punchy acceleration and tactical sense”. It is also an opportunity for the 2017 hopeful world champion to relaunch his career, he who has not raced since the Tour de Suisse in June and saw his season spoiled by a knee injury.
