It is untouchable when the sprint is too hard for the other large thighs of the peloton. Mads Pedersen (Lidl-Trek) resisted in the end of the 13th stage, cut for the Plunters, to win for the fourth time since the start of the Tour of Italy 2025, Friday, May 23. After launching his sprint from far away, the Danish disgusted Wout Van Aert (Visma-Lease A Bike), again too just to do better than a second place (his 5th of the season). The Lidl-Trek runner is more than ever a leader in points.

Behind the two cadors, the Isaac del Toro pink jersey (Team UAe Emirates) took third place and the bonuses that go with (in addition to two seconds scratched 10 kilometers earlier). His advance at the top of the general classification is now 38 seconds on his teammate Juan Ayuso, whom he let go in the sprint for bonuses. The operation is perfect for the two UAE runners, who widen the gap on their pursuers. The third, Antonio Tiberi (Bahrain-Victorious), is relegated to 1'18 “and the favorite Primoz Roglic (Red Bull-Bora) has 1'35” late.

Romain Bardet (Picnic Postnl) did not go far from the feat. Going on attack in the last descent alongside Mathias Vacek (Lidl-Trek), the Frenchman was taken over in the last kilometer by a hungry peloton. He has eight days of racing left to try to win a first stage victory over the Giro, while he participated in the last big tour of his career.
