RMC Sport broadcasts, from August 14 to 24, the first Grand Smash tournament in Europe, Sweden. Félix Lebrun will notably be present for the French.
This is one of the main meetings of the table tennis season. For the first time since the creation of the WTT circuit in 2021, a “large smash”, the most prestigious category of the circuit, will be organized in Europe, in Malmö in Sweden, from Thursday August 14 to Sunday August 24, 2025. Felix Lebrun will be among the main contenders, where his brother Alexis is wounded.
Who are the French to follow?
Félix Lebrun will therefore be the main French chance for this tournament. The world number six remains on a semi-final at the Grand Smash in Las Vegas last July, where he was beaten after an incredible fight by the world champion Wang Chuqin. The Chinese, winner of the tournament in the United States, will not be there this time elsewhere.
Number 32 in the world, Simon Gauzy is the part in Sweden, being the other French headliner in the absence of Alexis Lebrun. Thibault Poret (n ° 38) and Lilian Bardet (n ° 41) will also be followed, just like Flavien Coton (n ° 54). Five French people are directly qualified in the main draw. Joe Seyfried (n ° 89) and Florian Bourrassaud (n ° 148) will go through the qualifications.
There will also be two tricolor representatives in women, with Jia Nan Yuan (n ° 25) and Prithika Pavade (n ° 26). Charlotte Lutz (n ° 73), Camille Lutz (n ° 111), Audrey Zarif (n ° 152) and Léane Hochart (n ° 166) are expected from the qualifications. In the absence of his brother, Félix Lebrun will also team up with Thibault Poret for the double gentlemen.
Who are the favorites?
In the world top 10, only Wang Chuqin is missing. The world number one Lin Shidong will be one of the main contenders, like its compatriots Jingkun Liang (n ° 5) and Peng Wiang (n ° 9). Absent in Las Vegas, the world number three Hugo Calderano is back. In addition to the Brazilian, it will also be necessary to monitor the Swedish Truls Moregard, at home, the Olympic vice-champion in Paris. The Japanese Tomokazu Harimoto (n ° 4) will also be expected.
