Two months after his appointment at the head of the Bayer Leverkusen team, Erik Ten Hag sees his new mission ending prematurely.
The adventure in Rhineland will have been short -lived for Erik Ten Hag. Barely arrived in early July on the bench of Bayer Leverkusen to succeed Xabi Alonso, who left for Real Madrid, the Dutchman is already leaving his duties.
According to Sky Sport Germanythe German vice-champion decided to put an end to his collaboration with the 55-year-old technician. A departure that leaves behind a thin assessment: only one victory in three games, against the SG Sonnenhof Großaspach (4-0) in the 1st round of the German Cup, followed by a defeat against Hoffenheim (1-2) and a draw against the Bremen Werder (3-3) in Bundesliga.
A massive exodus
The former Manchester United coach will therefore not have had time to really get involved in the project of the German club. Especially since he lost several of his key players during the transfer window.
As a reminder, this summer window of transfers was particularly eventful to loot them: sales of Florian Wirtz and Jeremie Frimpong in Liverpool were followed by those from Granite Xhaka to Sunderland, from Piero Hincapié to Arsenal, Amine Adli to AFC Bournemouth, and the free arrival of Jonathan Tah.
