Declaration by David Lapartient, president of the UCI

The International Cycling Union is delighted that in 2026, the UCI World Road Championships found Montreal, a city that hosted in 1974 the first edition of our flagship annual event organized outside of Europe. Montreal has a great experience in road cycling, in particular with the organization of the Montreal Cycling Prix, one of the two events of the UCI Worldour organized on the American continent. The City of Montreal is also strongly engaged in favor of the bicycle for all, as the UCI Bike City label reflects that the UCI awarded it in 2023. There is no doubt that the UCI 2026 road championships will be a sporting success and will leave a lasting heritage that will energize the practice of cycling.”
