“I knew very quickly that I was going to explode”
Despite the difficulty of the day, Florian Lipowitz was fully satisfied with her performance on the queen stage of this Dauphiné criterium : “It was still a very very hard day. We tried to be in the conservation at the start of the stage, to always be there but never to attack and to wait for the last ascent. I tried, when Pogacar went there, to follow Jonas but I knew very quickly that I was going to explode if I stayed a little more and I tried to keep my rhythm. It was still super hard and I was more happy when I went very happy. Performance, before the stage I knew that I was in good shape but being always there, in third place makes me really happy.
With such performance in the face of the best in the world in the mountains, German could claim to play a major role during the next Tour de France. After the arrival this Saturday, he wanted to specify the role that will be his in July:“The plan is to help Primoz on the Tour de France, he is still the big leader and I think he has shown in the past that he is super strong and that in three weeks of racing he can run super well, so my main goal will be to help him in climbs and can also make the difference.”
