It is perhaps the most important day, or at least the most critical, in the history of Olympique Lyonnais. Draded in Ligue 2 by the DNCG last week, the Rhone club must convince the financial gendarme of French football to change your mind throughout the day. To achieve this, you must in particular provide guarantees of 200 million euros. A hell of a challenge for Michele Kang, who will see the club which she has just taken the lead stay in Ligue 2 if the OL's arguments are considered non -convincing.
And while waiting for the result of this call, the bad news is linked for Olympique Lyonnais. Progress actually tells us that the contract signed with the Groupama company for the Nami from the Rhodanian stadium has not been renewed. At the end of the month, the Groupama Stadium will therefore become OL Park.
A new money entry fades
And this while at the base, the insurance company was ready to extend this deal, but John Textor would not have validated the operation in time. In view of the recent club problems, the situation is currently on stand-by. Sponsor of the OL Park since 2017, Groupama should therefore no longer give its name to the Lyon speaker except reversal of the situation.
It is therefore a substantial financial loss for the club, which still has to pay its stadium until 2044, twenty years after the final date of reimbursement initially fixed (the due date had been delayed following the COVIR and the TV rights crisis). As a reminder, the Groupama contract with OL is estimated at 6.9 million euros per year, a sum on which the club cannot afford to sit, even less in the current situation. Case to follow, while the meeting with the DNCG has just ended …
