An ascent time for this 13th stage. After a first time trial on a relatively flat course, during the 5th stage, the runners will start all in turn, Friday July 18, from Loudenvielle to cover 10.9 very physical kilometers, with the rise to the Altiport de Peyragudes (8 km to 7.9%) located just two kilometers from departure. It is the first time since 2016 that a time has been carried out on a dry climb.
This second time trial of the 112nd edition, with a maximum slope recorded at 16% in the last hectometers, should abuse runners, in particular the sprinters of the peloton. Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates XRG), which had won a stage in Peyragudes in 2022, should claim a new victory after its number in Hautacam on Thursday.
But he will have to be wary of Jonas Vingegaard (Visma-Lease A Bike) as well as Remco Evenepoel (Sudal Quick-Step), which won the first time trial of the 2025 edition. After having achieved two very beautiful chronos in Caen by ending respectively fourth and fifth, the French Bruno Armirail (Décathlon Ag2r La Mondiale) and Kévin Vauquelin (Arkéa-B & B Hotels) will also want to shine.
