The Real Madrid superstar, Kylian Mbappé, always makes the headlines, whatever he does, but he once again made waves in France.

A series of payments made by the captain of the French team is currently under investigation.

Mbappé is part of an investigation which has been launched on five members of the Republican Security Corps (CRS), reports Le Canard Enchaîné (via Sport). The CRS is generally responsible for general security, but in particular the control of crowds, disorders and demonstrations.

Kylian Mbappé in full controversy

The investigation relates to the payments made by MBAPPé to five CRS agents in June 2023. The intelligence agency Tracfin, which tracks financial crimes in France, has a document detailing the payments of 30,000 euros paid to four CRS agents that summer, a fifth agent who received a total of 60,300 euros. The total amount of expenses from Mbappé accounts is 180,300 euros, which was reported by their systems. The five agents were all assigned to the protection of the French national team at the time.
The captain of the French team had promised to donate all of his winnings from the 2022 World Cup to Qatar to the security forces that had protected them during the tournament, six months earlier. There is a document signed by Mbappé which attests to it, and the Real Madrid star consulted her lawyer, who had assured him that the security agents would not have to include these donations in their tax declaration.

Personal protection or French national team?

The internal French police investigation brigade is trying to determine whether the “donations” are linked to their work during the World Cup or if they actually concern the personal protection of the 26 -year -old. The fifth commander, in particular, is under the spotlight, because he made two trips to Cameroon and Vaucluse, in the south of France, alongside Mbappé in June 2023.

The Blues played qualifying matches for the Euro against Gibraltar and Greece that month, in which Mbappé participated. The last match took place in Paris, at the Stade de France, far from Vaucluse. Summer was difficult for Mbappé, who missed most of the club World Cup due to a virus and which is still engaged in a legal battle with its former club, Paris Saint-Germain, about unpaid wages.
