The Norwegian runner signed the first success of his UNO-X Mobility team on the Grande Boucle on Wednesday in Toulouse.
You had to be terribly strong to win the victory. The day after the first day of rest of this Tour de France, Jonas Abrahamsen won a prestige success on the 11th stage, run on an infernal pace around Toulouse, Wednesday July 16. In the sprint, the Norwegian has ahead of Switzerland Mauro Schmid (Jayco Alula), with whom he isolated himself at the front after having been on the attack from the zero kilometer, to offer a first bouquet to his young UNO-X Mobility team on the big loop.
In the meantime, the day was rich in twists and turns, the peloton released his hunt behind the leading men only about 70 kilometers from the finish. A group led by Mathieu Van der Poel (Alpecin-Deceuninck), Wout Van Aert (Visma-Lease A Bike) and the French Alex Laurance (ineos grenadiers) dropped a lot of energy to pick up the five men in front, in vain. Started late in the coast of Pech David, the Dutchman failed in third place.
In the general classification, Ben Healy (EF Education-Easypost) keeps the yellow jersey. But Tadej Pogacar (UAE Team Emirates XRG, 2nd to 29 “) -who fell in the final before being expected by the other Cadors -, Remco Evenepoel (Sudal Quick -Step, 3rd at 1'29”) and Jonas Vingegaard (Visma -lease a Bike, 4th to 1'46 “) are likely to contest him on Thursday on the first day Mountain of this edition, between Auch and Hautacam in the Pyrenees.
